Got a few frags coming my way this weekend off of a local reefer :good:

The frags I get from my lfs come on horrible plastic plugs, and I don't want to use these! I've seen people make their own using milliput - do you cure these out of the tank? Could I stick sand to the surface to make them look more natural?

Let's see what you use :)

this is one thing that had put me off buyin some frags as i hate the plugs/discs most come on so look forward to any answers to this :)

you could remove them from them and glue them to rock. but wait 3 weeks after putting in your tank

Agree with fishy. I have zoas that are ready to come off the plug but I just need toget some glue to stick them where I want them!

The frags I'm getting are from the chap thinning the growth and will be cut from the colony the same morning I receive them so ideally need something ready to go.

I'm thinking milliput, glue and coral sand?

I think milliput and d + d equivilent remove oxygen from the water when they are curing so be careful.

I'd heard that, but thank you for the heads up :)

Does the woody require water to cure? If so I'll make some and leave in ro for a few days to go off.

If you leave it long enough, the coral usually encrusts/covers the plug, so you don't see it, and it essentially will become part of the rock, but if you don't want to wait for that, a lot of people over here use cement, and just use little DIY rocks made of it, it's a mix of a certain type of cement (I'll try and find it for you), and aragonite. That can take a while to cure though
