Just wondering how you would convert a normal tropical tank, with normal filter and lighting, into a FOWLR tank?
what equipment would you need?

Just wondering out of interest..

Mikey

things you would need:
salt mix
salinity testing tool (hydrometer or refractometer)
live rock
aggronite sand substrate
maybe a couple of powerheads

things you would want:
skimmer
overflow and sump (whether you drill or use a HOB is really your preference)

Ive seen someone recently with a tank with out LR (or very little) and they posted a photo a couple of days ago...
would you need LR to keep a fish or two and some snails, shrimps etc.?

Mikey

one way you could get around this is to have a sump setup, all the LR would be hidden then. I wouldn't go without using live rock though.

Allright.
well id need a hell alot of LR wouldnt i...something like 32 pounds, cos my tank is 32 gallons...
that would cost about £170...
ill do that tank FW, which was what i was wanting to do anyway.
Im going to do a 3 Gallon pico tank though...with 1 skunk cleaner, 1 fire shrimp, 4 dwarf red legged hermits, and maybe a turbo snail...
Hopefully, i was going to set one up the other week, but didnt have enough money..

A 3G a way to small for any fish IMO

And you will struggle to keep your readings conctant due to the small water qty
