42 White/3 Blue Watts per LED: 0.11 Total Watts: 4.62 Total Lux: 990 Total Lumen @ 12": 310

What does this mean? Is it low, medium, or high lighting? Should I bother continuing to use it? I'm going with live plants now, and am having troubles finding plants for my tank. I've been successfully growing anubias and java ferns.

If these lights are total crap, Can somebody suggest me different lighting and a hood for a 30" lenghx12"widthx24"height tank?

a 24" flurescent tube will be about 1200 lumen, so about 4x as much light. Hard to compare light specifications though as there's lots of different ways of measuring it.

I had good success growing java ferns etc in a 30" long 18" deep tank using 2x 24" standard "tropical" T8 flouro tubes.

Alright. I may switch to a glass hood and a flourescent bulb then, and use the LED's for my convict tank since there are no live plants and the light on their tank is a noisy piece of crap. Any suggestions for a (cheaper would be nice) light for a 30"x12"x24" tank?

Check out eBay for a dual t-5 fixture. I've gotten quad 4' ones that work well for around $100 including shipping.
