oh and this is my 5 gal redecorated. i know you shouldn't put goldies and tropicals together, but they were the last one in their tanks and so i put them together. dont worry, i clean the tank often and do water changes. there is also 2 ghost shrimp with them.

i got a blue incandescent bulb and i put it on at night and it looks like moonlight. i watch the fish with the blue light on until i get sleepy and i turn it off and go to bed! :)

Ditto LoachLover, love the markings! :)

I also like your 5 gallon, very peaceful looking. Watch out, though. That goldie looks like a comet, and they get big. Mine is about 4-6 inches. But anyways, love the tank!! :D

they do grow big if you have a pond, but they dont grow that fast in a small tank, the truth is stretched a bit...

Only because it's stunted, which isn't good for it's long term health.

Common goldies and comets really do need to be in very large tanks or ponds, tbh.

That is really cool, Im also thinking of putting a goldfish in a tropical tank i cant see no real harm :)

Apart from the fact it'll grow to a foot long, eat and dig up all your plants and eat any small fish it can get in it's mouth?

lets just say (in a nice way) that everybody has their own opinions about goldfish. i personally have had 4-6 small goldies in my 20 gal before. the water conditions were perfect and i cleaned the tank every 2 weeks with water changes in between. i also had an airstone in there. they all live long happy lives. i could go on for hours about how i disagree with people (not everyone) about goldfish. i know (IMO) when a goldie is too big for a tank. i am not trying to be rude i am just saying we all have different opinions :good:

Ah...do you think that might possibly have been because they were in a tank that was too small for them?
