Well...I went over to walk my friend's dog today, as they are out of town. As I was walking her, she started going frantic, and I found this small little Cockatiel right next to the road.
His head looked terrible...bright red. I took him to the car, and put him in a little box I had. He didn't move much at all, but immediately turned around and went to sleep. I had a few quick things I needed to do before I left the area, but I called the vet and made an appointment. I got him over to the vet, and the vet basically said that all the skin is off his head, and his skull is exposed.
The bird is probably in shock now, and the vet is not sure he can make it through the exam, so he's going to go slow with it. He is going to be kept at the vets office for tube feeding, as he's way underweight, and he's in the ICU now. Hopefully he's going to be okay. I'm supposed to call them at 6:30 tonight so I'll let you all know what he says....
*crosses fingers* He is such a sweetie pie. I really hope he's going to be okay...

They expect him to recover though. Guess who has themselves a new pet...
I'm going to check around the area first though, and see if there are any 'Missing's for a Cockatiel. If there aren't, he's welcome to live with me. I'm not sure anyone else would be willing to look at the horror that is his head and put drops on it.
Little Man.
