Found A Bargain Tank For My New Boy!

My betta arrives tomorrow!!!

Liz has a point if her fancy goldfish is ill and contagious you think she should go out and buy a 20 gallon tank spending god knows how much money on a fish that might not make it through. Better to try and make it comfortable and cure it in what you already have I say

Ok, because this is bothering me, I'd like to point out that fish don't get better from Cauli disease, so it isn't like it is temporarily in the 3g to be "cured." They develop growths that rupture and reform continually, and while some meds can prevent secondary infections - the real killer with the disease - nothing fixes it. That is more why I'd suggest a larger tank; if this was something that was going to finish the fish off rapidly or be cured quickly, I wouldn't object much to a hospital tank that small if cleanings were more frequent. But this is a chronic illness that could go on for a very long time, and all the while the goldfish has to put up with the same problems always caused to goldfish from being in undersized containers.
People seem to be ignoring the water quality issue when you put a goldfish in a very undersized tank and only clean it every 10 days; I'm not saying it even needs a full 20g to itself, I'm just saying that 3 is totally inadequate - esp. considering the ammonia output of the species - and is only going to hinder its treatment. Unless there's one knock-your-socks-off aerator, a tank that small doesn't even have enough surface area for a goldfish to get sufficient oxygen. But, since I'm apparently the bad guy for giving someone advice that could prolong their fish's life and help in the treatment (well, the infection prevention) of its disease since she clearly cares about it, I'm just going to be done with this thread. Sorry for getting it O/T.

My 2 goldies are in a 30 gallon with 3 filters and still get cleaned out twice a week :D

Ok back on topic, Babybell your little boy will start his journey tonight. He gave me daggers this morning as he missed his breakfast  so once he settles in to yours tomorrow I'm sure he would appreciate a meal :D

Will contact you later with his tracking number :good:

Woohoo! thats cool. I'll feed him soon as he settles in!

Wilkinson 3gs are pretty cool, they have great dimensions and the lid can easily be customised. Just be really careful with evaporation and cleaning the sides, since it's plastic, it scratches really easily, which is a pain to look at.
