YouTube videos can be very useful and not just for fish keeping

now considering this site has multiple Threads Covering a wide range of topics , i dont see why there should be a ban on using YouTube videos anywhere on TFF

dont shoot me or de-merit me though as this is just an oppinion

also with the copyright thing if a video is up there its link can be copied by anybody to put anywhere

the youtuber signed up for that when they joined youtube.

To be honest, the rule changes I'm aware of have been very minor.
When the rules were written, a member had to have 60 posts to be allowed to post in the Classified section. Most members ignored that and the then moderators had to go through that section removing the posts by members with insufficient posts. That post limit has since been removed something most members won't even realise has happened.
Back when the rules were written, YouTube was perceived as a rival. But most members ignored the rule about not posting videos. Times change and the admins decided to allow them, but with slight restrictions on where they can be posted. Again a very minor change since most members posted them in the appropriate forum anyway.

I can't think of any other rules which have been changed since they were written.

Well, there is the new rule forbidding typing on one's laptop whilst sitting in the bathtub. Several members have been banned permanently over that one.

There is no ban on youtube videos, but there used to be. Essjay was saying that's a rule that has changed. Here is the current policy:

YouTube Rules
Links to YouTube videos are permitted as long as they pertain to the topic.
Just-for-fun or non-fish related videos should be posted in the General Chat forum.
All other forum rules apply to video links. Videos which are false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually suggestive, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise a violation of any law are prohibited.
Commercial advertising videos are prohibited.
Posts made for the purpose of urging fellow members to subscribe to one's YouTube channel will be deleted.

(also, we really do welcome opinions on things like this, as long as they are respectfully stated and aren't disruptive to a fish-related thread. )

One thing not specifically mentioned in the Rules is that "look at my fish/tanks" type videos are OK as well, and they should be in the Photos and Videos forum.

Videos are very helpful in a thread for demonstrating a point about a fish or tank - it makes spotting something wrong with a fish easier than just a photo, for example.

This comedian was talking about his time as a missile mechanic or something like that... And he said that on some of the parts it had a warning label saying: "WARNING: NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION"

Hi ,new to this forum etc, tried long time ago with fish, unsuccessful, but now at home all the time started up several months ago.
Have a trigon 350 community tank, and a smaller 180 lts trigon full of baby gorami fry about 2 weeks old could not believe my luck.
Feeding on new hatch brine shrimp, liqifry no 1 and just started to feed with very fine powder tetra min, hope thats ok.
Had a couple of ANGEL lay eggs on a sword plant in the community tank, they were very busy fighting of the other inmates so I attempted to move them and the plant to a smaller tank, but this stressed them out i guess as the eggs had gone by the morning o well busy with the gorami any how. read rules

Me about to put something in the oven thinking its a cabinet: OH! Thank god for that caution sign... I thought it was a metal cabinet with buttons!
