I am considering breeding bettas, its something I am researching and thinking long and hard about, but the question of which jars are suitable, and where to find them, and their cost is still baffling me... I want to know what I would need (should I decide to try spawning) where I'd get things from, and how much it will cost, so I'm not going into the whole thing blind. I have a 20g growout tank sitting there, and a room I can dedicate to it too. Anyways, back to the jars...I read they need to hold at least 1/4 gallon of water, and I read somewhere that someone used stackable ones? Any advice would be appreciated to help my little enquiring mind... :) Thanks!

hi,

now it depends on how many fish you'd like to have...

i have about 30 adults and i made their tanks manualy with a friend's help, but if you want a betta farm i guess you need to buy the tanks as you'll need plenty of them :)

mine have about 2 liters (some will say it's not fair) and the fish are doing fine

Well, I suppose it would depend on how many fry I got... I'd need something easily accessible and cheap (preferably) so I could play-it-by-ear, so to speak. :) How many litres to a gallon? :fun:

They have some little half gallon containers. I haven't used them or bred, but you could check them out.

Also not sure if they're UK or US, but still, worth a try :)

argh! US only. UGH. They were perfect! Thanks anyway :)

:D look in the 99p shops they have some really nice see through plastic boxes in there that stack, my hubby has drilled holes in the lid, and guess how much they are?

I have a bunch of canning jars I used for jarring my last spawn. Don't know if they're as readily available in the UK but around here they go on sale in the summer. I got them a while ago but I think it was around $10 per 12/box.

Im thinking about breeding them myself, and i am just collecting jam jars off family and friends
