Hi guys,

What do you all feed your Corys?

I've been scouring the net looking for different food stuffs.
I generally feed a mixture of shrimp, bloodworm and algae pellets.

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative than that I'm using. Anyone know the cheapist stockists of Tetra Tabimin or Nutrafin sinking pellets?

Or can anyone suggest a stockist of quality feed price irrelevant.

Thanks,
Gazo

I can't answer where to shop for fish food in the uk.

I just didn't want to let your t post sink without a Hi there!

Hi there!

I feed live blackworms as the staple and add a variety of other bottom feeder food. Whatever I find around.

I will suggest vegetables which most of us use anyway and a little added to the tank spins out the money and I never seem to miss it, shelled peas and cucumber are a couple to mention although you would need to ensure the cucumber would sink if they will not come up for food.

Plecs like veggies, but I have not found that Corys make much use of them, unless there is nothing else. They get all the green they need from the algae in the water and tank. Corys are insectavores and naturally eat worms and larvae, etc. A good bottom feeder tab or wafer (not algae tab) is a good staple, add some tropical flakes for variety and some frozen blood worm, mysis shrimp, or other shrimp, also daphnia is always a good addition to make Cories happy and healthy. The brands mentioned by the op are solid. I use Hikari, but it is hard to find in the UK. Check ebay. I have also recently obtained earthworm and shrimp sticks recommended by Barracuda, but the source he recommended is in the States.

Of course, if your Corys like them, don't deprive them. haha Just make sure they get the protien they need.

No I do not have cory's and may have misread before ys my plec adores cucumber , peas and banana although the banana only goes in if I am going to do water change next day.

Would it have been otos I may have seen. Only veg is cheap but yes I agree most fish love bloodworms. There is dried worms form ....king however mine adore the frozen and Oak bark which is £16 a tub . I still feel its not as expensive as keeping a cat etc. The other idea is not to feed to often as I am sure a lot of food is wasted if you are not cautious its that grey area but overfeeding is as bad as under feeding

Yes otos are herbavores and sometimes will do for a piece of mashed pea, probably cucumber too.

And I agree our fish are sure more liable to get overfed than underfed. lol

As I said Corys are insectavores so blood worms are part of their natural diet in the wild.

You need a tribe of Corys! :shifty:
