Hi!

I currently have a 22L nano tank with some neon tetras and shrimp. It's been going great and flourishing and I am looking at upgrading to a Fluval Shaker 252L in the coming months.

This is the list of fish I am looking at having currently in the new tank:

- 1 Rainbow Shark

- 1 Flash Pleco

- 2 Pearl Gourami's

- 20 Black Phantom Tetras

- 10 Neon Drawf Rainbowfish

- 1 Apple Snail

- 2 Nerite Snails

- 1 Lava snail

Is that good for the size of the tank? Do I need to reduce numbers or can I add any more? In terms of filtration, it comes with the Fluval 307, is that capable enough for that stock+tank size or should I upgrade to the 407/FX2? The aquarium will be moderately/heavily planted.

Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for the fish ( can anyone?) but I would stick to the Nerite snails only.

They are absolutely fascinating to watch.

Could you swap one of the species for your neon tetras? You could expand the group in the larger tank too ;)

Any particular reason or just what you mentioned? I've never had any snails and liked the look of the ones i picked out :D

AqAdvisor told me neon tetras are too small and would get eaten, hence why I went for the bigger ones. I did have cardinal tetras in there but received the same warning about them potentially being a snack for the bigger fish.

I haven't owned the snails for three weeks yet however in that short time I have had several surprises.

Today one ate some fish food.

There were some snail eggs despite still cycling.

One snail was in a particular spot when I looked at them yet after turning round to grab a cuppa then turning back he had moved a fair distance.

They like ornaments too.
