I've had my Roma 200 since January and just had a few questions for other owners of the Roma or Vicenza series.

- Do either of the doors on your cabinet stick?

- When doing water changes etc, what do you with the lighting unit?

- Do you ever hear cracking/creaking noises from the light unit/top of the tank?

- What combination of T8's do you use and have you tried any other combinations?

The reason I ask is because the left door on my cabinet sticks and is very difficult to open. I like full access to the tank when doing maintenance so have to balance the lighting unit on the filter hoses above the back rim of the tank leaning against the wall (perfectly secure, done it many times).

Every so often I'll be sat there and I'll hear like a cracking noise from the tank lighting unit, freaks me out a bit sometimes. My lamps are power glo and aqua glo and during the day especially I think the tank could do with being a bit brighter. My smaller tank looks brighter and 'warmer'. Having said that Amazon swords and Vallis get HUGE in this tank.

yes, but you can adjust the hinges. Just fiddle with them until they dont

I've got the 125 roma and I simply lift both flaps and slide the light unit to the back

nope

- What combination of T8's do you use and have you tried any other combinations?
I've got the same tubes as you. I actually think mine looks quite bright.

i have the roma 200 and 240 and the right door of both cabinets stick. other than that very pleaSED with both. as for the brightness of the lights, the lights in my 240 have dimmed slightly and ill be replacing them one by one as they are more expensive than i realised. as for maintenance i just lift the lids off and slide it back and i can access all the tank then.

I can find it a bit fidly doing the 'vacuuming' at the back of the tank when the light unit is there, but it's a whole lot easier than removing the entire unit. I've only done that twice to clean the tubes.....complete pain.

I tend to just slide back for water changes and basic cleaning...I do use a syphon hose for water changes though and I can get anywhere in the tank with the hose without removing the light fitting. If I want to give all the glass a thorough clean I rest the light fitting against the wall and the back of the tank.

No probs with the tank or cabinet, the lights have faded ever so slightly through age but as it's not a fully planted tank (one java fern) I don't see the need to replace the tubes just yet.

I had one until the other day. The r/h door sticks every so often as for the light no creaking/cracking noises! I used to lift the light fitting and put it over one side and the back on a diagonal to gain access and use the other side when necessary!

Sounds a tad safer than what I do, mind you I neglected to mention that I rest it on the external filter u-bends...

As much as the stock lights are low profile they are a pain in the back side to move out of the way

I have the Roma 240 (see sig.)

Extremely pleased with it overall.......however the right hand door does scuff a little so requires a little extra touch on the rebound release action.

A niggle rather than a problem which i'm sure could be fixed if I was bothered enough.

When doing a water change I lift out the flap and quickly stand it in a bucket (to catch the condensation as it runs down)then wipe it with a towel. I do the same to the other flap then the light bar. It is good practice if you wish to keep them clean. Mine are like new after a year!

I tried all the different configurations like sliding them to the back, stacking them on top of each other etc, etc but found doing the job properly soooo much easier in the long run.

I also have a roma 200, left door sticks a little but not enough to be bothered. I've had it just over a year now and am really, really pleased with it, just has standard tubes in it.

I must admit I do remove the whole lid for every water change - I have a shelf that happens to be next to the tank and it fits perfectly on there, I also give the reflectors a wipe down to keep the tubes clean - good old e-cloths!

No creaking that I've noticed!
