Hi

First time on this forum, Ive got an 18 inch cube tank thats about 20 gallons, it houses a couple of parrot cichlids and couple of small clown loach etc.

Im looking for a new filter, I want to get either the Fluval 3 or Fluval 4.

The Fluval 3 states its fine for tanks upto 22 gallons.

So do I go with the 3 thats only just over the 20 gallons of my tank or do I get the 4 then turn the flow rate down, which is alot more powerful as parrots are quite dirty fish?

cheers

Are the Parrots still young? 22 gallons seems a bit small for them. I would get the 404, then if you go to a larger tank, you are all set for filtration.

Hi

Yes they are still smallish, actually just been thinking about a 204 instead of an internal, but like you say if I go for the 404 then Im set for the future

cheers

Cichlids ARE dirty and they WILL grow so go with the larger external filter. It will stand you in good stead for ANY fishkeeping needs in the future!! :D
