Switched our 75 gal over to marine and one of the fluvals is noisey. I had to repalce the impellar cover
on both and they pump fine. The impellers look good in both but one is quite obviously louder. Should I repalce the Impeller and ceramic shaft or could the well housing be worn after years of use? Thanks

Are both the same unit or are both impellers the same ? If so swap them and see the results. It is always useful in having a backup as if it fails you will lose your bacteria bed if you can't get one locally.

It's usually the shaft that wears first, but I don't know if you can buy them separate from the impeller.

sometimes what you'll get is a a rapid "clacking" sound and that's caused by the impeller being prevented to turn freely, look for signs of rubbing on impeller cover and housing.

Is this issue resolved? If not I would suggest Vaseline on the shaft of the propeller. It always does the trick for me when dealing with mechanical noises.
