Fluval 206 Media

Hi I have just bought a fluval fresh f60 and it comes with a fluval 206 external filter it has 4 sponges in the side then 3 baskets on top of each other in the top one it comes with carbon then in the middle it's biomax then bio foam in the bottom I want to replace the carbon in the top with something else I have some ehfisubstrat spare could I use that in the top basket ?

Absolutely. No problems whatsoever.
 
You may find people will give you tips on the order the media should go (and it would depend on whether the water flows bottom to top through your filter). I have no idea (so I won't advise), but for me if you're replacing carbon with ehfisubstrat it looks like the right location, bacterially speaking they're equivalent (hard structure versus sponge etc).
