Hi there my HRP's spawned in a cave on Saturday morning - the female has been guarding the eggs since then but I checked the other day and they have gone fluffy - is this fungus? Should I remove the eggs and let them try again not sure what to do - can the fungus harm my other fish?

Thanks Wills

If they are fluffy, then indeed they are not viable, whilst this wont harm the other fish, it may spread to any viable eggs, Im suprised they arent dealing with it by eating them. If you can remove them without bothering the other eggs (assuming it isnt all of them) then do so. Once all the eggs are gone, they will no doubt spawn again in a few days.

how do I tell if the eggs are fertile or not? They started out as all clear with 1 or 2 white ones then they changed to oval shapes yesterday then they were fluffy on the night.

Just noticed today that the male has started preparing a cave at the other end of the tank under some rocks and also there is currently a lot of activity in the cave with the eggs in now - I think I will see how today goes check them tonight and then do something about it in the morning.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
