I have a 360L tank with two filters. Output is rated at 1400l/h for each filter. One has an extended spray bar, so it's force into the aquarium is reduced quite a lot. The other has a nozle on the end to aim it at the surface, so again, its not that forcefull into the aquarium.

Anyway, i have been getting BGA in my aquarium which has been causing hell. It was suggested that i get two 900l/h powerheads. I previously had a 4000l/h Hydor Koralia, but sold it on when i got discus.

So got 2 of the Koralia 900l/h Nanos. BUT, i just switched one on, its at the top of my aquarium aiming slightly down, and all 4 discus went into hiding! I fed them 5 mins later, and 3 came out for food, but went straight back into hiding. Only one of them is brave enough to stay out.

So i am worried this is too much for them?! I know they like slow flowing water, but there has to be some sort of compromise! So is one too much? What about 2? Should i just give it time before switching on the second one?

Thanks!

They'll get used to it, in their natural environment if the current picks up they'd prob go into hiding where the flow is calmer so give them some time and they'll be ok.
