Due to the inability to get hold of enough flourite for the tank I've ended up getting 2 bags flourite & 2 bags Eco-complete for my tank.

My original thought was just to mix the two together, but after reading that the Eco-complete separates out into 2 layers, I'm not so sure. I'm now stuck between 3 possibles:

1) Mix both together
2) Flourite layer on the bottom with Eco-complete on top
3) Section the substrates e.g. Flourite at the back, Eco-complete to the front.

Anyone have any thoughts?

However you try it, they will blend together eventually, I'd probably be tempted to just mix them up from the start.

Whichever is the finest grain, put that on top and it wont mix so much

That's what I decided on in the end, mixing it that is. I put it in this afternoon, and from what I can see of the tank out of the slowly disappearing flourite dust gloom, it looks quite effective :)

One thing I have learned though - even if you think you've got flourite resonably clean - wash it ten times more for good measure :-(
