my nano tank gets an awful lot of light, being in a corner window... everything got choked out by algae, except the plants are doing well... the Florida Flag fish eats algae, so I bought a small group of them to experiment with, they are in my dump tank for right now, with exception of the largest male, which i added to the algae filled nano tank... he seems to be doing fine, but it's too early to tell... if that doesn't work out, maybe I'll switch him out for a small female...

adult male in the background in this picture... pretty colorful, though you can't tell from him being in the background... it may have been wild caught, as it's pretty wary of the human... been eating the algae though...

Is that a flag from florida you have in the back ground ?

the single in the algae filled nano tank seems to be doing fine, but I ended up with a battle and death in the 65 gallon, over the holiday... I think the group size too small for a commune, looks like the larger male killed a smaller male, over the holidays... water may not be just where I want it yet, changing over from a Tilapia tank, but each well water, water change should help that, and I have a couple anubias arriving today, that will be here, before their drift wood resin pot... will see if the Flags end up breeding in there, or the fighting was just the result of too much wide open space??? in either case, I'm hoping the plants, and new pot offer good structure, that is easily removable when future netting is required... there is currently a dalmatian male sail fin, and a few of the extra Juvenal female green sailfin females ( biggest of the large group, went into the breeding tank, smallest, into this 65, with the Flag fish )

well... he's still looking good, as a solitary fish, and making a huge dent in the algae of this nano tank in the window...

I believe this was a wild fish, so it likes to hide if a big face shows up just outside the jar , but it seems to be getting used to me... Its a little harder, as it doesn't associate me it's food, as I'm letting it eat mostly algae yet...

from my experience they still go to town on algae when there is extra food, they eat a lot of meat-based foods too which was interesting

well, I got 4 flag fish in today, from Dan's... individulally bagged, and marked as to the sex... bad picture, as in broad daylight, in the little tank, it went right as far away from me, as it could get... no immediate fighting, but they are not hanging out right away either

male on top, new female near the bottom has the makings of a dot at the back of the dorsal

female turned sideways so you can't see her well in the 1st picture...

better shot of the lil missy, in this picture... still lots of algae to eat... going to give this tank a shot of frozen brine shrimp today...

sorry about the typo, fat fingered my phone

well, male and female are hanging out together, in my little window tank, she has also been gorging on algae, as well... no dancing going on, but I have high hopes for them, as a pair... I have 2 more males, and another female, that went into the 65 gallon "dump" tank, so there is a good chance they could breed there, as well...

big male hanging out today...
