Tried floating hornwort. It all gets stuck in the filter intake. How do people float plants ?!?

Try making a floating plant divider with aquarium airline tubing and it should keep them away from the intake

How do you do that ?!
I'm not really sure how to explain it lol. Look up diy floating plant divider. You could try something like this but with the plants inside. Or try stretching a single line across

nice idea. But how do I keep the plants from going to my intake ? Lol

Get some airline and an airline joiner. Join the two ends of the airline together with the joiner. You can also use black polypipe (irrigation pipe) and a joiner, or clear plastic hose and a plastic joiner.
Get a suction cup and stick it to the side of the aquarium.
Tie a piece of string (about 6-10 inches long) to the a loop of airline and the suction cup.
Put the floating plants in the loop of airline and they should stay put. This works for true floating plants like water sprite, duckweed, water hyacinth, etc. However, it won't work with hornwort.

You can buy round/ cylindrical sponges for some brands of internal power filter. These sponges have a hole through the centre and they fit over the intake strainer of most external power filters.

I have Salvinia.

I use a DIY floating plant separator, made out of fishing line and suction cups:

Make sure when you do this, to keep the fishing line right at the water level. (If you are going to ask about the floating airline tubing, it is just so light can get to that corner of the tank)
