Can anyone recommend a nice floating plant for my 180 litre tank?
My loaches uproot some plants and my honey Gouramis love to swim underneath, plus they will give a bit more cover from the light. It is heavily planted anyway, but would like something different.
Whenever I go into my lfs they never have any, so it will probably be an Internet search, but even a shop you guys use and have had good results from would be great to hear from you.
I'm UK based btw, thanks

Hmmm dunno if you've heard of it ornow but ive just been doing research of my own and come across 'Duckweed'. It seems like its very easy to maintain and doesnt need fertilizer or anything like that, just stick it in and it will grow, under low, medium or high lighting. Only thing I noticed is that it will need regular cutting back, pehaps once a week or it will totally cover the surface of the water.

Once added to your tank duckweed is very hard to get rid of, one leaf will multiply again and again. try frogbit or water lettuce instead.

I have loads of duckweed... I actually really like it. It is true it would be awfully hard to rid it from your tank after adding it... but I find it easy to keep in check... just occasionally scoop some out with a fish net.

My LFS didn't sell any floating plants for the longest time until one day I went in and they said they had hornwort. I bought a bundle and it's almost as bad as a christmas tree, dropping its leaves all over the place. My fish don't particularly like it since the leaves are like needles, they actually prefer the plastic half floating plant I have in there with big broad leaves.

I'd also like to hear if anyone knows any (USA) online shops that have floating plants.

Amazon frogbit if you can find it. It looks like little lily-pads, and it's easy to get rid of if you want to. Probably harder to find than duckweed or water sprite though.
