Can anybody suggest a Nice Floating Plant?

I would prefer it if it didn’t take over the whole surface quickly, just some thing to give the fish and fry some cover :)

Thank for any suggestions

water sprite , java fern and jave moss are a good start

I dont think Java Moss and Java Fern Float... I used to think the moss floats until i got some and they went down down to the bottom.

I think the Riccia is a great floating plant. Only they grow really fast especially on the water surface where the light is very strong.

But still, i think they are great.

How about duckweed, cute little plant & they can flower too, you'll have to scoop some out once a week with a net if you have high light levels but doesn't take long. My fish love it. If you are in the north essex or anyone reading too you can have some for free if you want to collect.

oops ,[ java moss and fern ] sometimes mine will float in the water column , and also settle somewhere [ in a corner , on the bottom ], both have proven to be useful to me with fry .

I should have said they just don't need to be planted.......sorry for any confusion .

Amazon Frogbit... nice, long, trailing roots with up to 1" size 'lilly pad' style leaves... really nice, provide good shade and the roots are good hiding places...
