just wondering if anyone could give me insite into a few problems i am having ... first of all i just noticed today i have fish poo that is floating not sinking to the gravel. :\ also i notice my EBJD flicking off of surfaces like its trying to scratch. i dont know what to look for. (parasite, etc.)

Please Help!!! :D Thanks

The flicking could be ich, which even if you cant see any white spots doesnt mean it isnt there, but, the floating poo could indicate internal parasites which may also cause the flicking externally.

Have you added any new fish recently? Water stats? What colour is the poop? What have you been feeding them?

no new fish. last i checked water was good. i will check again tonight.(havent had time with school, work, and a prego wife LOL) the poo is slightly reddish mostly brown. (close to the color of their food) I feed them Hikari Cichlid Pelets with a frozen bloodworm suppliment about once or twice a week.

How long have you had this EBJD? I can take 2 week for ich to start to effect a fish. You will not see any spots at early stages. Floating poop can be caused by constupation, Poor food not being absorbed, and stress, Or internal parasites.

Sounds like Ich to me. Well Hope that it is just Ich and nothing more. If your water is all good ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates under 30 it should be fine. I have had clean floating poop from fish and looked at it under a micro scope ( Yeah I am a dork I use to be a Vet tech) all I could find was plant matter in the poop. No bactira no Parasites. It was just poop from a stressed out fish that was not eatting much.

Watch him if the flashing keeps up you should look into treatment for Parasites.
