One of my danios and one of my bronze corys regularly flick themselves over plant leaves or the smooth top of the filter. Is this some kind of parasite bothering them? I hope it isn't ich. They've been doing it for about 2 weeks now. Tested my water and all is good with no abnormalities. I have some tetras, 8 other danios, 2 more corys and 2 clown loaches and none of these are behaving this way. Any advice will be helpful please.

Alot more of the fish in my tank are rubbing themselves against plants and the filter now. I did a 3day treatment of esha exit but its not really changed anyhting and there wasn't really any signs of ich. Is there a different parasite that I can treat for? They don't seem stressed in any way and are eating and breeding fine, i was just a bit worried by it. More so now that no one has replied to say they have the same thing.

ist thing id do is test your water , as well as ich / flukes etc flicking can be a reaction to water quality

I did. All was fine and still is. Amm and Nitrite at 0. Nitrate at 10. Temp fine. ph steady also. Thats why I was unsure what the problem could be.

I suspect to solve this you will need to answer the following:

Tank size?
Stocking?
How long has it been running?
How did you cycle it?
How much water do you change, and how often?
What test kit are you using for water readings? Liquid or strip?
Temperature?

Flicking is almost always the result of a water quality problem BUT sometimes my fish flick if the water temperature has risen quite a bit because of the weather, and also if the the lights have been on too long. So also: How long do you have the tank lights on and do they affect the temperature?

Hopefully providing the above info will help someone answer your question.

I started to worry about the thermometer as it was a cheapie. I tried another and found that my tank temp was 2deg higher than normal, maybe due to the weather. Maybe this was why the fish were flicking. The temp is back where it should be so i'll monitor it.
