I have a big problem. My betta won't stop flaring at his reflection in the walls of the tank. I can't get rid of the reflection either. I put up two different color backgrounds, tried towel, different light bulbs, none of them worked. He is stressing himself out and getting all tired, what can I do to make him stop.

Thanks

Austin

I had a similar problem with my betta, except he was constantly attacking his thermometer, non stop for days, he eventually gave up. How long has yours been doing this for? I hate to say it, but perhaps a different tank? Is it glass or pexy glass? You may be able to paint it.

Sorry i'm not much more help.

It's acrylic and he's on his second day of doing it. I was hoping somebody would say he would give up because I was thinking that but I don't know.

mine did that for about three days and stopped

do you mean the reflection off of the walls of the tank. i was told that that is just an optical illusion - the fish cant see a reflection -_-

Ya that's what I mean but if that's true what is he doing then, he is still flaring where there is a background so he can't possibly se anything that might be threatening there?

if he doesn't stop in a day or two like Smurfy's betta did, I suppose you could get some plastic mesh and custom cut it to fit against the wall of the inside tank.

mine settled straight in and is fine being moved between the 2 tanks

something over the tank to make it dark might cure the problem if he's still at it

Have you tried no background whatsoever? And also leaving the lights on in the room when the tank lights are on. I had one that I excercised at times by shutting off the room lights...and then he'd see his reflection and start flaring, swimming etc. I couldn't use a background with him for the same reason and then I also had to move a red object in my bookcase that he was flaring at.

Well yes I'v tried all that and he still flares, but I bought some anarchis and that is helping since it's blocking the acrylic a little and he flares on and off but is getting better I think, sooner or later I think it will go away.

yes it is because if you look from the side that he is flaring at you will see what he is looking at its just the way the water reflects and is there anything near your tank that he is flaring at
