Hello again - Sorry I've been posting so much lately, but Samson is my first betta so I have lots and lots of questions, lol... Here's another one: Samson seems to be full-out flaring (fins and gills puffed out) almost constantly the past few days. I've tried leaving the aquarium light off/on, covering parts of the tank with a blanket to reduce any reflection he might see, etc... Nothing seems to be working. He did just build his first bubble nest, and the flaring began a day or two before that, so I'm wondering if he's just extra territorial or something... Will it hurt him to flare so much? I seem to remember reading somewhere that it wasn't good for them, so I thought I'd post here and find out for sure. Is there anything else I can try to get him to stop flaring?

He's actually pretty friendly and loves playing the "follow my finger" game, which we probably do once or twice a day. He comes right up to the surface now for feeding time (that's one of the few times he actually doesn't flare, lol!). He doesn't just flare in one are of the tank, either. He's in an Eclipse 5 gallon tank and does a pretty good job of covering the entire area, even inside his "hiding place" (where he still flares). This makes me think it's not his reflection. He's also an only fish, so it's not another fish making him flare. Any ideas? Thanks sooo much for all the advice everyone has shared in the past - I really appreciate it (and so does Samson, lol!).
