Flare Off 3 Males 1 Tank

Somebody who has over 100 posts is probably not on here for the purpose of trolling. So whether they got bored with fish forums and decided to switch to trolling or is just genuinely clueless, I don't know.

The fact remains that we are flaming them. I partly agree with Jaiden, having been flamed at least three times by board members over misunderstandings myself. However - the flamings were well intended, and one of them was deserved. When I posted information correcting it, the flaming stopped and was replaced by helpful advice.

The only helpful advice I can give here is that the obvious fin damage on the bettas makes it obvious that either they ARE fighting when you're not looking, or some other fish in the community are nipping their fins. Bettas can cope with community conditions but when their fins are being damaged like this they are probably quite stressed. They would be happier kept alone in small tanks. If you don't want to move them, flaming you obviously won't force you to but I personally think you're being rather naiive keeping two male bettas together and expecting them to get along. They are called fighting fish for a reason. People have flamed you because most of them are experienced betta keepers who have seen what happens when two males get together accidentally. They know it usually ends in disaster, a painful death for one fish and serious, often fatal injuries for the other. They don't want this to happen to you or your bettas. Neither do I, but if you won't take our advice, and the advice of everybody else on the internet who has a betta website or forum, we probably can't help you.

I think a mod should lock this before it degenerates further into an out-and-out flame war. There are already two clear sides and it won't take too much more ammo.

I have been in several all out brawls on here lol, they usually end in Mod locking. But really what baffels me this time is what reaction the OP is looking for....did he think we would all clap our hands and go "OOOOOHH COOL!!! look at the pretty fishies getting ready to pound each other" If you are going to choose to go against advice you have been given on many occasions then i would think it best to keep that fact to yourself not irritate the situation but adding ANOTHER betta and telling all us betta lovers about it.....Not flaming just confuse at motives :/

Why the hell dont a mod just lock this damn thing?

Or will it take something bad to be said before it does?

Your a total nob (not noob - nob) putting males together and i think your a pratt.

I hope one day you find yourself against 2 huge guys wanting beat the crap out of you down a dark alley

Even my 4 year old knows that Siamese FIGHTING fish fight.

Some people on here get way too personal.

All it needed was someone to tell the OP exactly what was wrong with his treatment of his bettas in a nice, informative way.

By giving him abuse, you're just making him want to keep them together more to proove you all wrong.

okay well daring old me has 2 males fighters in a communtiy they do not fight and would remove them if they did.
so i was cleaning out shreads tank and decieded to put him into the community with the other 2 males
so me watching the tank armed at the ready with a net and a camera released shread.
there was no fighting only lots of flaring so i took some photos
i know it sound a bit mean but i needed to jnow ir the 2 males in the community were males and they are
so here is a couple of photos i will put some more up soon

There all females, and you should be ok to get at least 10 more of them that look exactly the same as them ones in your tank..

Also it would be a good idea to put some cichlids in with them, and at least 8 common plecs, feed them 24 times a day all they can eat 1 hour.

Also regular water changes every 2 years will keep the tank well maintained, and plenty of pee in the tank should keep the ammonia levels up.

Have a look in your garden for dead plants, prune the good parts and add the bad, that should keep your nitrite levels good.

Also plenty of api salt will help, add at least 6 spoonfulls per litre..

Good luck

:: claps :: :good:

oh my.....
that made me laugh..

sometimes the people that ask these stupid question jus want a rise out of us.. becuz they kno well be up in arms..... but that advice is jus as bad as wateva made them think puttin two males 2getha was ok..

smh......

like i said

ignorance is bliss...

In the wild when two males come into contact, they flare, and may attack each other, the loser of the battle LEAVES

Its cruel to keep two males together, as there is a 90% chance one will be submissive, and cant get away, even if he doesnt appear to have any physical damage (which one does) it's still cruel to keep them together, as extensive stress will occur.

^ I second this. In a tank the weaker male has no option to back down and leave the vicinity of the stronger - continued presence indicates an interest in keeping fighting.

It looks to me as though the OP has vanished. This could have been trolling...

This is ridiculous...

Why reply if you know the OP to be trolling? you all end up as trolls...
