like it says recently after working at seaquarium i have stopped using flake and moved on to frozon foods it just feels nicer to give it to your fish. i give them a mixture of brineshrimp, mysis and cyclops everyday.
i dont no why it just feels right.
i still use algle wafers for my plecs though.
i know flake food is nutritious for them but it looks like wet paper that had been dried out.
plus in my area the frozen food is cheaper then the flake and the fish are loving it.
does any one see flaws with this
i know i will have to do extra water changes but not really bothered about that.
does anyone else only feed frozon food

What about bloodworm, cucumber, peas etc?

Then there's the live bloodworm etc. etc. etc. etc.

Not every day though :hyper: 'Let them eat flake' (didn't someone famous say that?).

They are just like you, like a variety and if you 'eat out' every night after a week so so you'd kill for a plate of beans on toast (or similar).

As long as you don't overfeed you shouldn't need extra water changes. It is also good for them to 'go without' one day a week (saves money on food  ).

dont worry i do fast them once a week.
and they do get ORGANIC veggies (peas, cucumbers and all that jazz)
occasionly i give them blood worm but it has a low nutritional value
and then they also get tubifex

"There's no bread. Let them eat cake" -Marie Antoinette on the peasants involved in the French Revolution.

Though in all probability she did not say it (she was 10 at the time) see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famous_non-quotation

Re: the original poster, it looks like the fish are getting a good variety. Like people, they should be getting as varied a diet as possible to make sure that all nutrient requirements are made. And, of course, you have the research what the fish would be eating in the wild, i.e. most Rift Lake cichlids need lots of vegetable food, and very little meat else they are susceptible to Malawai Bloat.
