Alright so I have a 10 gallon and just recently acquired a 55gallon from my aunt.

I had a bunch of fish in my 10 gallon, planning on moving them into my 55 gallon...butttt to make a long story short, they all just died all for different reasons except 2 and my snail.

I have nothing in the 55 gallon except water plays and and heater, which has been cycling for about a week.

The only fish I have still alive are my 2 bloodfin tetras, and I know I need to get more of them ,but what else.

I was thinking about getting a pleco! There is this incredibly beautiful prehistoric Pleco at my LPS, only it's getting big but I have been watching it since they got it I pretty much saw it grow up at the store.

Also should I go with live plants or not? I have live plants in my 10 gallon but I want to get rid of them because all the other fish died in that tank and would rather just get new ones, plus those plants have algae all over them. My dad told me to stick with fake plants beause whenever he had live plants in his fish tanks he always had problems -_-

Any ideas or advice on what fish to throw in there would be very helpful, this tank has been mocking me set up in the corner of my room I want to set it up!

I would definitely suggest live plants since not only do they look better and you have a larger variety they also provide oxygen for your fish as well as shelter. Naturally the next step in keeping fish in an aquarium is keeping them is a nicely planted tank you always see.

As for the pleco I'm sure you can house it in your 55G or now but it will exceed a foot easily so I suggest getting a Bristlenose Pleco which stays small at 5-6 inches, eats algae but does not eat your plants like most other plecos.

As for your stock you can pretty much do anything with 55G of space: mollies, platies, guppies, rams, angels, gouramis w/e just make sure they are compatible and that you choose to pick.

Yea I like live plants a lot better anyway but as for adding oxygen I don't think that will be a problem because along with the 55 gallon my aunt gave me she also gave me an airpump along with a lot of aeration decorations plus the airpump I already have and I have the splitters so I could have up to 4 aeration decorations which I plan on it

And gouramis are the fish I had that all just died for all different reasons except 2, I had 4 of them ? 2 powder blue gouramis, 1 red gourami, and 1 dwarf gouramis. Yes they were all dwarf gouramis and I know apparently they have virtually no immune systems

Ye those are really susceptible to bacterial diseases. If you choose to go with gouramis try the more peaceful ones like Pearls and Honey Gouramis.

That and I also heard that for Plecos you need a piece of wood because they have little teeth and they like to grind their teeth on the wood, is this true?

And for plants what would you recommend? In my 10 gallon I have 2 banana plants and 2 red flame swords. However both banana plants and one of the sword plants have had a problem in which random leaves decide they want to die, the one sword more than anything though
