Hi

Brand new to the firum so Hi! ^_^

Not sure if you class this as an emergancy but we do!!

We have a AquaOne Regency 80 180l tank in our kitchen. It has just cracked all down one curved corner top to bottom!! Water gushing eveyrwhere bit of a trauma. All fish rescued and put into our other tank which is running upstairs.

Does anybody know if we can claim the cost to replace the fishtank on the home insurance. We are covered for accidental damage so I thought this should be possible as its the actual object we are claiming for - not the fish.

Has anyone unfortunatley had this problem at all who could advise. I cant get hold of anyone to speak to at the insurance plae until monday but we are buying a new tank tomorrow.

Thanks and sorry for rambling!!!

Anne-Marie

I don;t know the answer bt I'm sorry to hear about you mess. Its my worst nightmare with my tanks

The tank has been in the same position for over 2yrs now!! It hasnt been moved and was placed level. Don't know why it has happened. we have malawi cichlids in the tank.

Hi, sounds very much like the tank was either on an unlevel or unstable surface for that to happen.

I would think that you may only be able to try a claim with the manufacturer if you had the tank on the proper cabinet designed for the tank.

House contents insurance normally covers glass within the house, ie TV, tables, glasses etc but ONLY for accidental damage (ie impact) Not sure if this covers fishtanks but I am now going to check with mine!!
