Well its as the name suggests really, I'm currently in a fishes cycle and I have been advised to add household ammonia to increase the rate of my filter maturing, however I have a fluval edge which is only 23l so how much ammonia is essential to be added? Cheers in advance

I have always cloned my tanks previously but after re-reading the thread on "fishless cycling" from 6 years ago on this site, I am defo going to fishless on my 2 larger tanks that I will be setting up. This way I can just wait for the right group of plecs to come along and get it stocked without worrying!!

I just feel it's a wonderful tool for the full range of scenerios all the way from an almost immediate clone (from lots of mature media) to a pure fishless cycle like a first-time beginner with no mature media source has to do. I think a rarely appreciated (by experienced folks) aspect of it is that it gives you some real hands-on feel for what your particular biofilter in your particular tank with your particular currect set of fish is doing more or less and it's somewhat numerical so you have a little better documentation in the notebook for that aquarium that is useful to look back at.

If a clone is messing up, the water can look just as clear and ok and if the clone is taking perfectly. I think in the old days we just were using wishful thinking more often than we like to admit.
