Fishless Cycling Help

Hi all

I have a 30l tetra tank which has housed a goldfish for a few months,but has the fish has now gone to a pond.
I want to use this tank has a nursery tank for possible platy fry-the tank has still been running since the goldfish came out,but i don't think the tetra filter is working very well any more,it has slowed right down,i did clean the filter in used tank water,but still hasn't done much for it.
Anyway i have bought a Bio sponge filter to be worked off an air pump,can i use this bio filter to do a fishless cycle?

Any help would be appreciated

You can certainly cycle a sponge filter. It will cycle the same as any other filter.
