Hello

I need some advice on my fishless cycle.I have 110 litre tank (Juwel 800).

I half filled the tank then let the water stand for 1 week without anything added. No purifier, dechlorinator etc. I then filled the tank and added easyneo. So at this point the tank water is 2 weeks old.

I then added plants and a few days later added a small amount of fish food on 3rd March and then added pure ammonia (5th March) to make 5ppm. However with the 2 items combined my API test kit is showing 8 ppm ammonia. I also have 6ppm nitrite and 15ppm nitrate.

I realise my ammonia is high but should I do a water change or leave the tank alone as I have nitrites and nitrates in the tank now and wait for ammonia to be processed (back to 0) before adding any more.

Oh there are no fish in my tank, nor will there be untill it is cycled.

Decided to do a water change to bring ammonia down. Hoping nitrite rises and ammonia falls even further now. Must be patient I know.

Thanks

Zeb

just keep testing it over the next week dont change any of the water yet just keep checking it and see if the ammonia goes down on its own

If you leave it at 8ppm ammonia the wrong type of bacteria starts to grow. I would say about 20-30% water change to try and bring the ammonia down to around 5ppm.

Picture of my tank at the moment.
