fishless cycle

yep we have those Oscar, I will check them on the way home, any idea what size bottle to get, I have usually cycled with fish food and it would usually raise the ammonia to 1.0 but can get messy
what part of Tenn you from?

I am just north of Chattanooga. I live out in the sticks  Anyway, one small bottle should be enough, but I would get two just in case. Just add enough ammonia to get a 5 ppm reading paying close attention to how much you added to get this reading. Then everyday after that add the same amount until you get a nitrite spike, then cut the amount of ammonia you add in half. Continue to add this amount until your nitrates appear. To test the tank to make sure it is cycled add ammonia and your ammonia reading should be a 0 within 24 hours. :)

The 125 I am cycling now is not taking long at all. But I got seeded media from the pet store and had some from my other tanks so it makes it a lot quicker. In three weeks I have already had my nirtite spike and I am just waiting for the nitrates to show up. :D

Good luck!!!

EDIT

(Oh yeah, by the way .... GO VOLS!! :p ) Been wanting to say that ever since I saw 'roll tide'
Cool thanks for the info, I love the aquarium you guys have in Chattanooga. I went to the one in Gatlinburg a few weeks back, it was cool but it was more of a salt water thing. I prefer fresh water fish.
Oh and ROLL TIDE, we will be back :kana:
