Fishless Cycle-how Long?

From my reading the average is maybe a little longer than 3 weeks. Some are as short as 3 days (usually with some mature media help.) Some are longer than 8 weeks.

warm water and high oxygen levels help speed the process up. Adding bacterial supplements can help as can adding live plants or filter media from an established tank.

 Im a newbie too and I can't get my cycle to even START after 2 weeks of having everything exactly right as far as I can tell. My suggestion to you would be to definatley get ahold of filter media from someone! I ordered a mature sponge filter online for about 14 bucks since I dont know anyone with a tank.

On april 7th I got my ammonia levels down to where they should be after accidently overdosing. by Tuesday (april 15) it still hadn't dropped at all so I did an 80% change and ordered the sponge filter with the intention of starting over. The water change dropped my ammonia level down to between .5 and 1 ppm and now, 3 days later even THAT small amount hasn't dropped at all even tho my PH is right and my temp is good. Basically what Im saying is that its a science project. Sometimes no matter how exactly you do everything to try to replicate results....results will vary because of variables. Some variables can be known and taken into consideration and some can't be known at all. When the fishperts say it takes patience...they aren't kidding :::Lord I cannot WAIT for my sponge filter to come in the mail today!::::

FOREVER is the easy reply.... LOL Setup and forget is my advice, watched kettle and all that....

Well, I am at 8 days I think, had a slight pump problem on my magnum 350, stopped pumping. Seems the micro filter was real dirty after 1 week. Anyway got it back up and now using the Carbon kit that came with pump. My ammonia PPM is approx 4-5 and my nitrite is still at 0.25 a very small trace of nitrite. Been that way for 2-3 days.
Where did you order the online filter media sponge you are talking about as I may have to resort to something like that if my cycle stalls or does not seem to work.
They say patience in fishless cycling

Tolak (a member on here) referred me to angelsplus.com. Tolak says he's done alot of business with this guy and that he can be trusted. So, trust him I am. I should be getting my filter today or tomorrow at the latest :)

Thanks, checked them out and was not too keen on the snail issue, but will keep in mind in the event my cycless process stalls. Please keep posting your results after you receive and use the Active LMS Filter. Not sure how I would use it as I am using the Magnum 350 canister filter as my current pump on my system. Not sure how I would add the Active Filter to my system ?
