So I added 3.16ml of ammonia into the water (homebase own brand) to the tank from using the calculator on the website.... left it over night and took a reading, it is still 0pm?
I have done a week of filterstart is this effecting it? Temp: 26 degrees.

Scared of how much to add next, dont want to go over!

Are you using a liquid test kit? If so, add another ammonia dose to get a 5ppm concentration in the tank and then do an immediate test, to ensure all is well.

Is filterstart one of these bacteria in a bottle products?

Any sign of nitrite (I'm not expecting there to be for ~2 weeks, but 0 ammonia after a night makes me wonder)?

Yeah bacteria stuff to start the filter and removes all hard metals etc.

I am using the API freshwater test kit. I will test it now...

No nitrite, no sign of ammonia even after adding another 3.16ml is this not enough for 60L? The only other issue could be the homebase ammonia!

So my tank now has 2x 3.16ml .... so it should be at 10ppm but is at 0ppm ammonia. :( confused.com

add 5ml and see what happens also what is your nitrate level? make sure to bang the hell out of the 2 bottles for a couple of minutes

Just tested ammonia again it is at .25ppm ????? should I keep topping up? and continue/stop adding filter start every other day

How bizarre! I am fishless cycling and my ammonia is not going down at all. If there are no nitrites or nitrates then something is wrong.

Shake the ammonia bottle
Shake your test solutions

Maybe make up an ammonia and water solution and test that to make sure your test kit is working??

Yes just made a really strong mix of water from the tap and ammonia..... test kit works perfect :( I shook everything well before too so cant be that, hmmmm.. may keep adding until it hits 4-5ppm

Decided to leave it as it is, the Interpret filter start obviously works.... Put in some active filter media and am continuing to dose with filter start and the tank will hopefully sort its self out!

Tank just started looking cloudy!
