hi, i have just started having tropical fish (use to have them but gave up 4 years ago). ive had the fish around 3 weeks now and some eggs have appeard. There are a number of suspect to choose from but im not sure who it is.
I will list here
3 Neon Tetras (think theres 2females and 1male)
1 red tail shark (black) (thought to be female)
1 male siamese fighter
2 dalmation mollys (dunno sex)(both look fat but ive never had mollys before)
1 silver shark (dunno sex)
1 pleco

i am goin to be gettin female fighters but i seem to go in the shop at wrong days because they keep saying they havent got any in stock

in the center of the tank i have a urn like cave that the rts hides in usually when she isnt chasing other fish, also the pleco occassionally visits it.
but at the moment the fighter keeps goin in there and the shooting to the top of the tank to release bubbles, which i now relise are eggs. the eggs are verry tiny and collect together in lines along the rim of the top of the water and the glass, i havent counted yet but i think there is around 70+eggs
if anyone has any ideas thanks in advanced

Your male siamese fighter will build a bubble nest. This is normal for them to do. its not eggs. You need a female for that.

i know it isnt hes eggs obviously lol
but it seems like he is pullin eggs from the cave and releaseing them to the top of the tank

You can rule out the tetras as they are egg scatterers and they are so tiny you wouldnt notice them - you can rule out the mollies too as they are live bearers! Red tailed sharks and silver sharks rarely breed in captivity. That just leaves the pleco!

just looked in me tank and my fighter fish is stiff as a plank :S dunno why
gonna go have a moan at the shop only few weeks old

Did you cycle your tank first before adding the fish? What are your water readings?

yh my bro did all of this for me, he knows alot more than me about fish, cant tell you readingings i dont have a clue

The male fighter will kill the females or vica-versa.

Don't put them in the same tank. Do some research before you buy please ;)

Wait have you had ALL of these fish for only 3 weeks?

What size is the tank?

How did your brother cycle it? I can pretty much guarantee that the fighter was killed by bad water quality if those fish were all introduced in one go.

And also here are so rough guides to the sizes of tank you need for those fish...
Neon Tetras - 60l + , plus should be kept in shoals of 5 or more
Red tail shark - 200l + , keeping it in less than this will result in it's death, or agression issues towards tank mates, possibly resulting in tank mates deaths.
Male siamese fighter - Between 20-60l as they often don't do well in community set-ups. Certain fish will nip their fins, and the fighter will often attack tank mates. This rule doesn't apply as strictly to female fighters.
Dalmation mollys - 60l+
1 silver shark - Actual name, bala shark, grow to around 15" and need a 6ft aquarium of 500l+, they should also be kept in shoals of 3 or more.
1 pleco - Depends on the type, but if it's brown then I can pretty much guarantee it's a common plec, in which case 300l very min to keep one long term.

I'm not trying to be horrible to either you or your brother. So please don't take it that way. Your brother may know more than you about fish...but if he suggested that the fish you have now were suitable together then I would seek advice on here as you have a very incompatible mix. Often when fish are juveniles you wont see too many aggression issues so can accidently assume all is well. But it isn't, and that's speaking from experience.
