have you ever wondered... "what does my fish think?"

i have! i just look at them they look back and its like they swim away thinking "that goofy looking gurly is just... ugh!"

lol so what do you guys think about fish thoughts?! and feelings?!

I doubt they think at all. Most fish actions seem to be instincts. Hey he gives me food I'll look at him/her. Of course they could be tricking us. ;)

judgin by the actions of my fish, this is probably what it is thinking: just calm down, everything is gonna be alright. ah! the big person. be calm, and he won't eat u.

when i posted that, i am serious, he is always so jumpy when i look at him.

lol yea they may just be aliens from another planet here to study us :p kinda like te mice on hitchhikers guide to the galaxy!! THE ULTIMATE QUESTION!!!

Usally, when my fish are eating, I guess their thinking "Food, food, food!"

Agreed. I don't think their brains are big enough to think, they just run on instincts.

Eh, I wouldn't say they run ENTIRELY on instinct. It's not instinct to dance around and beg for food when something huge that could be a predator comes walking by, after all . Most fish species I've kept are capable of learning to some degree.

I think that the extent of their mental ability is probably something like "Every time that thing comes by, food appears!! Yay, food!"

Then again, I've observed what appears to be play behaviour in my oscar, so they may be much more brainy than we ever imagined ;)

When i feed my fish, they probably think "the hand of god aproachs! we worship you as you drop food into our small world!" or somthing like that. The guppys probably just think about making babys and eating all the time, but who knows what could be going through the minds of neons -_-
I think my plecs are very philosophical fish, they are probably working out advanced mathematical equations wondering questions such as "what is beyond the universe?" etc as they suck their way across the tank :D
My smallest plec is just like a little dog and will frantically swim up and down the tank as i reach for his packet of algae wafers :fun:

Well, I believe these are the main things that pass through my bettas' mind:

Food.
Protecting his fortress (tank) against the evil intruder (his reflection).'
How to construct the perfect bubblenest.
Food.
How really, really, ridiculously good-looking he is.
Food.

As for neons, Tokis, I'm sure they're really deep thinkers. They probably ask themselves meaningful questions like,

'How did I get over here?'

'What are these little thingies flapping at my sides?'

and

'How did I get over here?' :p
