So, which shoalingfish (or other) would like cool water, 23-24C and quite fast flow and to a small tank, 80 l? Other fishes are 2 borellii cichlids and 2 spotted hillstream loaches (gastromyzon punctulatus).

White clouds....too warm, neon tetra looks boring to me because it is so common, espes rasbora could be nice but is water too cold, normal harlequin rasbora maybe, how about danios................

Ideas, please.

Your tank it way to small for hillstream loaches, it is an 80 litre not 80 gallon.

80l is more than enough for hillstream loaches.

depending on the actual species - they get to 1.5" upto 4".

Your temp for them is actualy a bit high. they prefer temps of around 70ºf (75ºf max = 23ºc)

And on the other extreme - its on the minimum recomended for the chichlids....

hmmm,

If i were you, I'd go one way or the other.... Raise or lower the temp and change the other fish.

Zebra or Leopard danios, but only if the tank is at least 24" long.

If you lowered the temp slightly it would be perfect for white clouds and the hillstream loaches - I don't think the cichlids are in the correct temp. IMO... Rosy reds/fathead minnows would work and are tolerant of a wide range of temps. Plus they are schooling fish. :D I'm not sure about temp. on these but some bitterling species would probably make great schooling fish. And they aren't common ;)

No your tank isn't big enough.

Wilder: Do you have any new proof that spotted hillstream need that big tank?

The-Wold: You are danio expert. Is there some small danio that would fit to my tank. Don't worry I will not put (6cm long) zebra danios to my tank (70cm long), because I know they are very active fishes and need their own highway to be happy. They are also so big that I couldn't get big shool enought for them.

Fufanu360: Here where I live, the smalles aquarium we keep goldfish are 600l, that's, 160 us gallons. That is because goldfishes will get big and they are shooling fish. Goldfish is not valueless fish here, we don't have any feeders. Goldfishes are also kept in speciestank here, never with other fishes.

Sylvia: Could you state why you think my borelliis are in wrong temperature? I have other, warmer tanks I could put them if I wan't. Do I really have a reason for that? :)

It's just that IME the borellis I have seen have always been in a slightly higher temperature - a temperature the hillstream loaches wouldn't like. So strictly speaking the 2 fish aren't compatible temperature-wise. It would be possible of course I'm just not sure it's practical as both fish will be more susceptible to disease and the like.

i think the borrellis would be happier in a highet temp tank and like to breed in higher temps so therefore enjoy higher temps

Sorry sylvia, I must keep arquing with you (because I find it fun) :p
Apistogramma borelliis come from South America from Paraguay River basin and along the lower Paraná River in Argentina. Lets take Paraguay river an example because that is where my pantanal borelliis are from if they are wild caught. In this page
http://ns2.pluto2000.com/ponce/sae_leverger2.html
you can find the Paraguay river temperature (in the bottom of the page, little top of the map) 76F. So is 75F too cold?

Gastromyzon punctulatus can be found from Borneo, from Indonesia and Maleysia and more accurate from Senapat River, Baleh River and Segama River. Feel free to find temperatures in those rivers. :p I couldn't this fast, but I have found temp. 24C from many different sources, mainly from atlases and geographical books. Thought I would be very pleased if you know where to find good, reliable information about gastromyzon punctulatus. There is not much information available about this spesific species.

Don't get mad to me sylvia, please. I just must prove to myself that I'm not keeping my fish in wrong conditions. That is very important to me.

Glowlight (danio choprae) and dwarf danios (danio nigrofasciatus) will be ok in your tank. If you can find them also Danio erythromicron formerly microrasbora erythromicron would be ok.

Alternativly look for Dwarf red rasbora microrasbora rubescens, although not a danio it is a danionin :)
