Fish Tank Leak

Its a loft, i cant make a 'tray'

it would only be 6cm deep (100cm x 100cm = 1metre square = 10000cm. 1 ml fits into 1cm cubed. so 6 "layers" of 10000cm cubed)

someone has to much time on there hands. lol

Why not? If your gonna make it a fish room you need floorboards. If you have flooring then you can cover the floor. Even leave a gap in the flooring for the hole you climb up through. What's stopping you?

...Im at work...

..doing data checking for some analysis we did in the week. Going stir-fry crazy actually. Flippin numbers everywhere. Pah!

I would not have thought that it woul be a problem, a lot of people have cold water tanks in the loft which are 100+ gallons

Eight ten gallon tanks, that's about 800KG, or a family car with the family in it, after allowing for glass weight and basic decoration... Sure you still think that's OK in a loft? Cold water tanks are installed in fixed locations that have already has re-reinforcements in place for that weight, the normal loft floor will not. Seriously, with the amount of fixed weight involved, go speak to a structural engineer before thinking about it :good:

They will actually weight around 50KG each, making it 400KG not 800...

10 uk gallons = 50 ish kg of water alone

That doesnt account for the tank weight, and the weight of decorations etc (although if you add stones you will have less water - but stones weigh more so the weight still goes up.

Probably looking at around 100 kilo or just under per tank once set-up. Plus the weight of any cabinet you may have.

edited coz I kept writing "stoned" instead of stones.

As above, they will weight just over 50KG each for the water alone. When you add the glass, decoration, equipment and the stand, the final weight will be nearly double that of water alone :good:

Im just going to have plain tanks with only water and equipment in them...

sorry but get your self a shed/i had the loft coverted a lot of years ago for the sons bedroom,he was 10 at the time and the amount of extra joists they put in was unbeliveble,so i would not go there with tanks, get a shed
