Fish Tank Flourescent Tubes Or Normal

Hi All

Who here uses Specifically fish tank bulbs only or use just normal flourescent bulbs from the DIY shop

as I have 3 5ft bulbs in my six footer starting to tire out and need to replace them, problem is I think bulbs from fish tank companies are a tad expensive.

So i was thinking of getting 3 x 5ft bulbs (30W-40W) from a Normal store. As I cant Think of any problems using normal bulbs can any one else.

ive got a rekord 70 15w tube can i just buy a normal tube for it as its starting to dull?

I just went to Wal-Mart and bought the cheapest (I went on the cheap for this experiment) 4 foot fixture they had. And I run one 6500k bulb and one 8000k bulb (both T8). The 6500k or "daylight" bulbs are cheap. The 8000k bulb was a bit pricey IMO but looked far better on the fish and tank.

Was it worth it? Yup.
