I have a tropical fish tank which needs filter floss. The filter floss I have says it’s suitable for marine and fresh water tanks. Does this matter, or do I need tropical fish tank specific filter floss? If so, where can I find some?

If you have freshwater or marine fish it is fine. All of my tropical fish are freshwater fish. Most are.

You can also put sponges in your filter instead of the floss. Sponges last 10+ years and don't need replacing.

The filter floss should be washed in a bucket of tank water and re-used until it starts to fall apart.

If you only have filter floss and nothing else in the filter, you should never replace more than half the media at any time.

Ok great that’s very helpful, thank you.
