Figured I would put this in the emergency section too in case I can get more traction here than the marine chit chat.

I got up today to my powerhead making a rattling sound. I went to investigate and saw my green chromis inside the powerhead! I quickly turned it off and he swam out of it all on his own. He did it so fast that I didn't see how he got out so I have no idea how he got in there in the first place! He's swimming fine but he looks terrible. he has vertical stripes down one side that looks scrapes and most of his dorsal fin torn off.

Do you think he will be okay? Is there anything I can do for him in this tank? I don't have the means for a hospital tank so anything I do has to be in his own tank.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?

Here is a pic of the poor little guy.

The external damage looks minor, as long as there wasn't any internal damage it should be fine.

Poor little guy!

Hope he recovers as long, as tcamos says, as long as theres not too much external and no internal damage.

Just keep an eye on him and hopefully he will recover.

Maybe a cover, mesh or something over the powerhead might help stop this happening again.
Never heard of a fish swimming into the powerhead!

I do learn something new everyday!
