Hello everyone, I have a 29 gallon tank that it is going to be done cycling soon. I would like some advice on what type of fish will be a good fit. My number one fish are Angels, would love some suggestions of what type of fish I can pair with Angel Fish. This is my list of fish I really like.

Angels
Gold Rams
Black skirt tetras
White skirt tetras
Diamond tetras
Giant Danios
Cory catfish
Plecostamos catfish

What do you think?

What are the dimensions of this tank?

Are there any particular type of Corys that you like? There are many varieties :)

For a Pleco, you could have a Bristlenose Pleco. Or, although it is not a Pleco, a school of Otocinclus (3+).

Black and white skirt tetras can be a bit nippy so might not be the best option with Angels. :/

The skirt tetras need to be in decent sized groups otherwise they might get nippy and nip the fins of the angels.

the dimensions are 30" x 12" x 18"

I also have a marineland bio power filter

I havent looked at any particular corys I just heard that they get along with angels, so Im open to suggestions.

A school of otocinclus sounds great can I mix them with a bristlenose pleco?

Can I keep a school of tetras of like 6 so they won't get nippy? maybe a mix of white skirt and black skirts and diamond?

So rams will be ok, blue and gold rams?

Is it 12" or 18" high?

IMO you would need a school of at least 10 for the Skirts not to be nippy. IMO they're not the best tank mate for an angel!
If you didn't have the black and white skirts then you could have a bigger school of Diamond Tetras and Corys :)

I personally wouldn't have a school of Otocinclus as well as a Bristlenose, its a case of choosing between the two.
With Otocinclus, there isn't much need for anything more to eat the algae as Ottos eat a lot of algae for their size! Just make sure to feed them additional food (Vege/Algae wafers and Zucchini) and only add them once your tank is fully established (about 6 months after the first fish were added).

Adolfoi and Julli corys are my favourite. Have a look on Planet Catfish under the Cory section and see what appeals to you.
You could also go to your LFS and see what Corys they have available that you like :)

I have no idea about the Rams sorry. :/

yes 18" high, I don't have any fish in there yet as it is still cycling but will be done soon.

I do like the shcool of Diamond tetras idea and the corys so thats definitely an option.

Can I keep a red tail shark with the corys?

IMO not recommended for Red Tailed Sharks for your tank size.

 Sorry!

They grow to 5 - 6 inches and need quite a bit of swimming space as well, also can be aggressive and territorial.

Best in tanks from 55+ US Gal.

ok so no shark, can corys be kept with some shrimps? or am I pushing it lol

yes, Cories and shrimps can co-exist together without too much trouble.

As long as there are plenty of hiding spaces for the shrimps and adult shrimps should be ok.

Although Cories may eat small or baby shrimps but as long as there is space for shrimps to escape to if they need to then should be ok.

What kind of shrimps were you thinking of keeping. I keep Red Cherry Shrimps, very easy to look after and as long as you have good water parameters then should be straight forward really.

They make quite a good clean up crew!

ok Great so far 2 angels a school of diamond tetras, school of cories and some shrimps will work great

Ah, forgot about the Angels.........

Angels and Cichlids are probably the worst two species of fish to keep with shrimps!

Angels will probably eat the shrimps!

Unless you have a very heavily planted tank with loads of hiding places and loads of shrimps then a few will survive but you'll probably never have to feed the Angels as long as there's shrimps in the tank.....

Sorry again!

Think that might be best not to get any shrimps if you get Angelfish.

Even getting Ghost or Amano shrimps which are bigger than RCS, may even not be a safe bet as Angel may bully or rip them to death!

Angel fish are not really 'angels', bit of a misnomer IMO but a beautiful looking fish though.
