Hey everyone. I'm new here and I need some help.

Does anyone use the aquarium backgrounds? Do you put it inside the tank? My Zebra Danios keep getting stuck behind it. :dunno: What's the best way to make sure it stays to the glass?

I can't keep my temperature stable. It goes from 72 - 80 with the smallest adjustment of my heater. I think my heater is bad. Any recommedations for a reliable inexpensive heater?

How do I make a cool signature with a fun picture?

:hi:

Welcome to the forum lelover!

Heaters... In my opinion, the best ones are the kind that you can set the dial to a certain temp, and it pretty much regulates itself. Granted, they're not always that accurate to the point where what you dial in is what you get, but once you get it to the temp you want, they keep the temp consistent.

The other alternative is the kind you turn on, then when it reaches the desired temp, you turn the dial so the pilot light goes off. From then on, they're supposed to turn on and off to maintain that temp. These are probably gonna be cheaper than the kind you dial to the temp you want.

The wattage of the heater depends on the size of your tank.... I think the rule of thumb is 5 watts per gallon.

Hope this helps!!

Backgrounds are meant to be attached to the outside of the tank. Try clear tape or sliding it in the aquarium border/frame.
For pictures in your signature like mine, you need a webpage to host your pictures. A good free site is photobucket.com :)

I`m new myself Yeah your bound to have a lot of fish caught behind it,if it isnt on the back of the tank ;)

:hi:

With all due respect to all of you, there are textured backgrounds that are meant to be inside the tank. If lelover has one of these, then the best way to attach it is with aquarium silicone sealer. The only problem is, it has to be done dry otherwise it won't stick.

The silicone is a great idea. I should have done it, but now that I have it filled I'll stick it to the back.

I think I'll go get a new heater before I add any more delicate fish.

BTW I just added a male danio to my three females. It was obvious which gal was the Queen of the tank. She staked her claim on him right away and chased the other ladies away. I think its neat that once paired danios are loyal to each other. Us humans can get it so backwards some times. :fun:

Thanks for all your help!

Hi...
With regards to the background picture.......i agree that it should be put on the outside of the tank.
However.....the instructions that came with my "juwel 190" states that before the tank is filled....the background should be fitted to the inside of the tank using "juwel black silicone"
Its up to the individual choice i suppose

i use a mixture of water a soap on my backrounds it drys clear and it stick within minutes

:D HI!
if you want to insert some picture that appears under ur name (lelover) and above the sign that says Newbie you have to go to My controls and there on the left hand side you will see the option that says change AVATAR there you can insert any saved picture. If you are talking about a signature that appears at the end of your message evey time you post something you have to go to My controls and there you will see Signature click on it and the box will open there you can type the fish you have and to insert an image go to Toolbar above that says font, size, color, quote, code, list , etc. there you will see the IMG button, copy link address from some picture that you maybe found on the internet and insert it in the box that appears every time you press IMG button. If you have any problems just write me a message and you can do that by clicking on the name that appears above the picture of 2 little fish that are kissing -> Aquagurl
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
