Fish Stocking .. Hmmm Help Please

My choice would be to steer clear of the RTS but angels are a possibility. Angels are south american, like the cards/neons you are considering. The cards are the natural food of the angels but if the cards are already established in the tank before you introduce the angels and the angels are young when you introduce them then there is a good chance they won't ever really think to eat them, even after the angels have grown large. They will both enjoy softer, more acid water, whereas the guppies really like the water to harder and higher pH. The guppies don't really fit in as well with what you are planning, although since you really like them you might still try having 2 or 4 males and see how it goes, adding more if things go well.

By dropping the number of guppies, you could have more angels and that could be your "cichlid." You'll want to keep the minimum grouping for the cories though, just as you have it. A very large shoal of cardinals is quite stunning and I think you'll be pleased. The tank will actually appear more natural if there are not too many wriggling guppies, which is a different look overall. Unfortunately, the -movements- of fish are not something that's easy to get a handle on before you've kept them!

~~waterdrop~~
ps. all these choices are a pretty personal thing overall so don't let any of us influence you -too- much, lol.
