Hi everybody, i have a 96 litre tank (25 gallon) and was wondering how many fish i could fit in (in centimetres)?

Would it be around 100 cm of fish because my tank holds 96 litres of water - 1cm of fish for every litre?

Thanks

Yep roughtly 1cm of fish per litre, or 1" per Gallon is the current thinking.

Obviously the rules change slightly for larger fish, I mean an Oscar can grow to 15" but would not be suitable for a 96 litre tank due to turning space and waste output etc, whereas 50 neons would have plenty of room and dont produce as much waste. Hope that makes sense :)

I was told that myself, but when i spoke to members on here they suggested that it be 1-2 cm per litre of water, that way you won't over stock your tank.

What fish are you thinking of getting?

Hi thanks for repyling

the fish i'm thinking of getting are

2 pearl gouramis - 22cm (11cm each) or 2 leapord frog plecos - same size as pearl gouramis
3 peppered corys - 21cm (7cm each)
2 dwarf gouramis - 10cm (5cm each)
then either
2 golden barbs 14cm (7cm each - would they be ok in a pair?)
or
6 x neon tetras -24 cm (4cm each)
already in tank

5 x lemon letras - 20cm (4cm each)

total - 87cm with golden barbs

97cm with neons
should all the fish above get along together?

thanks everyone

Dont see any issues for those compatibility wise, however, I think the golden barbs would be happier in a larger group, so I would go 5 of those and lose the neons, with only 6 you wouldnt see much of them anyway. Or lose the golden barbs and have a larger group of neons.

The only other problem could be with the dwarf gourami's, I would suggest only 1 male as two may not get along too well, if you had one male and one female, the male would harrass the female alot.
