I have an overly aggressive female Mollie and was wondering if putting her in one of those plastic fish boxes in the tank would possibly calm her down?

has anyone had any experience of this as im sure ive read something about it on here before.

how long would you keep her in there for?

any help would be much appreciated.

The item I suspect you are typing about is a breeding net that attaches to the side of the tank. I very much doubt that a period in that would stop the aggression if she were to be placed back into the tank. It would merely stress her greatly to be in the net/box.

Basicaly from what ive heard it works for days after they have been taken out of the box but then they return to there normal aggressives selfs.
And putting her in one of those plasticfish boxes puts the fish under alot of stress and is not advisable by any means.
Is the molly in a group and what size tank is she in
I may be wrong but im sure some1 may tell us other wise

thanks for your help, will move away from that idea as the last thing i want to do is stress her.

90l with four other Mollies, one male three female

I have had the occasion to isolate aggressive fish, but more often than not I have had to isolate fish which are not aggressive enough. Right now I have a female Saulosi cichlid who is easily the most bullied fish in the tank, and hasn't had a complete set of fins (or even half complete) for months. In both instances I have never noticed an improvement towards better integrational behavior from their stays, mostly the net serves as a quiet place for healing rather than solitary confinement. In all cases I must point out the most stressful part of their internment was not their stay but the fish's capture, and once that was over the fish often was extremely sedate and calm inside the breeding net (and realize for African Cichlids, that's quite a rare state to be in).
