Fish Rubbing

Yep I just had this..went to a pro shop, non petco walmart, and paid a 10% premium thinking I would get healthier fish lol what a newb I was. Fishes started scratching on glass, rocks, wood, etc. the worst was stage 2, loss if appetite. Had to clean a whole cube of blood worms out of my tank because no one ate their treat: usually they devour it(ill post a video and you'll see the frenzy) so I knew something was up. Stage 3 white spots, ich.

I won't shop at any local shop anymore...

I'm not getting any other signs other than occasional rubbing

I ordered some interpret white spot/ich treatment. Do you think I should use it? As more fish are rubbing now but still no signs. Could it be sand as some fish (barbs) kick up a lot of sand.

If I do use the treatment should I remove the active carbon from the external filter and turn of the uv steriliser ?

I think it can't be seen plain eye but if the gills are attacked by something the fish can have laboured breathing. And of course, it doesn't mean your fish tried to scratch their gills. It's hard to see which part is annoying them and It could be anywhere on the body or internal parasites.

+1

My Cherry Barbs have been doing this - along with white poo I diagnosed as internal parasites as theres no outer symptoms except some bloat/anorexia. Gill flukes etc are a possibility especially brought in by the new fish.

I swear by this - http://www.waterlife.co.uk/waterlife/sterazin.htm

I've seen 2 of my guppies rubbing against stuff, the first last week was rubbing against a leaf and the other today was rubbing on the sand.

I noticed one of my guppies do this on the gravel today. Then i noyiced the same white strand stuff that you describe around one of the plants.... I've removed said plant and will keep an eye on the fish.

A load of my fish have white spots visible now . I treated them with white spot treatment this morning
