you know how it is when you see the beat up ones
i found one in my LFS on Saturday, a blue CT with no tail left after being in a tank with paradise fish -_-
i got him moved to the apple snail tank.

he's still there today and came to my finger when i stuck it on the outside of the glass.
so i'm going back in 3/4 of an hour to get him.

i'm naming him De Niro, because he has a scar on his face from being beat up by paradise fish (Scarface innit).
awwww

I'm glad you got him moved first. One of the things i have always struggled with is where people say that they have rescued a fish by buying them, but not necessarily doing anything else. Simply buying the fish is (no offence to anybody) slightly short sighted. If you buy the fish from the LFS in this manner, then the LFS in their eyes (and revenue wise) has been successful. They then get more fish in and stick them in exactly the same conditions. Surely in those cases, not buying the fish is would be the long term plan to stop these conditions.

If people don't buy them, then they won't be able to keep stocking them forever without a sale. Unfortunately as we all know, this is not that possible as people will keep buying them, as they too might not know any better and follow the LFS advice. So that leaves us with the course of action that you have taken. Let the LFS know that there is a problem so that the might (well we hope) they might take it on board. Then, buy the poor little fishy if you can house the little chap or chappette..

Well done..

Squid.

i tried to get another one moved when i was there, me and the guy went through every tank going "nope not them, nope definately not with them" etc etc, they only have a few tanks. (he ended up in another snail tank).

anyway, de niro is home! settling into his new tank. i got him for FREE. i would not pay for a fish this tatty. and i get things discounted from this LFS anyway heh. you can't buy rescues. (unless it's like the RSPCA and you know the money is going to good things...anyway).

i'll get some photos in an hour or so when he's less OMGZZ WHERE I AM I. he's an active curious little boy which is good. he's having a little zoom about. i put salt and melafix in his water to help him out. he'll be a pretty CT if i can get his fins grown back. the rays that are intact are nice and long, single rays, a lot of extension there.

Awww I can't wait to see pictures of the little fellow!! And good job rescuing him!! I'm sure he'll have a happy life with you :good:
