My 2 blue rams have recently died and now i have space in my tank to get something else. I have a juwel rio 125 with:
1 albino rainbow shark (really peaceful)
4 bronze cories
1 platy
8 cardinal tetras
5 rummynose tetras
6 harlequins

what could i add do you think to replace my rams?

Thanks

Will

maybe a pair of apistos?

You sound a bit full to me and as rams need excellent water stats perhaps you were overstocked to cause their demise?

well the first ram died of internal parasites, it may have been bad water quality though. The strange thing is, my newest ram to die died after my 50% water change...

50% water change is far too much to do at once

how often do u do water changes and how much?

They are a law unto themselves aren't they  I still do think you sound stocked though really, maybe a couple more harlequins as they are hardy but nothing much bigger than that or certainly nothing sensitive

rubbish

there is absolutley no proof that 50% water changes weekly cause any problems. hundreds of people do this when running EI tanks all the time.

i regularly do water changes of this size and larger with no problems.

all the beneficial bacteria you need live in the filter not free swimming, for the vast majority of people things like the pH of tank and tap water are the same so no pH shock. There is genuinley no reason why you shouldn't do large water changes.

it depends as yous say

but where im from ic ouldnt do this withoout causing ph problems

there is also a lot of discussion over how much a pH change affects fish, remember in the wild when it rains the rainwater will often have a different pH to the water in the seal/lake/river the fish are currently in. a lot of people think that pH shock is a myth. not saying thats true for definate, however i think there's enough evidence supporting it that we should at the very least be careful about blanket statements that you can change no more than 20% of the water.
